Workshop Philosophy

In the midst of the digital age learning to incorporate handmade elements into your artistic arsenal can open up new avenues in your design work that you never realized. Conversely, if you have always utilized a low tech approach these workshops can help you learn to incorporate new technology into your traditional work without overpowering the subtleties that make handmade items so beautiful. Printmaking lends itself to a vast array of applications as demonstrated by its renaissance within the indie design culture right now. With the popularity of websites like Etsy.com artists now have unparallel opportunities to have their work viewed and sold to the public. If you have harbored a dream of learning to become more creative you have found your home. Our instructor, Lisa Hardegree, has experience teaching foundations classes at Arizona State University while getting her masters degree in printmaking. She can help you realize your artistic dreams while also helping you develop a stronger appreciation for contemporary art and utilize multiple art mediums to suit the plan for your pieces. Lisa also holds a firm belief that everyone has the ability to be creative and she will make it her personal mission to help students find that creativity within them and never let it hide again. Class sizes will be small with an emphasis on creating a community that learns together over several hours. Students are encouraged to foster this community after the class is over making their work mutually stronger.
